About the author

 

Born in Shiloh Manitoba in 1949, Margaret attended public schools across Canada and in the United States. While attending school in Ottawa, Canada she found an inspirational mentor in her high school English teacher, Canadian author Brian Doyle (2005 NSK Laureate).

 

Studies in Sociology, Psychology and Anthropology at Carleton University earned her a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. In 1994, she received the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canada awarded to individuals making, "A significant Contribution to Canada, the Community, or Fellow Canadians". Stoddart retired after thirty-two years with the Public Service of Canada.

 

In The Chaparral Murders: Dollar Store Justice, Stoddart explores a true crime involving her extended family. 

 

She currently lives in Kanata, Ontario, Canada with her partner of 17 years. When not playing with her grandchildren, Margaret spends her time running, swimming, and biking.
